The dates and steps, as Medicare publishes them
Many heart and diabetes medicines need the plan's approval before a pharmacy can fill them. Patients often leave the visit without knowing that, or how long it takes. FuzzMed shows the dates and the questions in plain words.
Where our information comes from
- How long a plan has to decide. Medicare drug plans decide within 72 hours, or 24 hours for a fast request. For some requests the time starts when the plan gets the doctor's statement. Source: CMS, Part D coverage determinations.
- How long you have to appeal. 65 days from the date on the plan's letter. The plan answers in 7 days, or 72 hours for a fast appeal. Source: Medicare.gov, drug plan appeals.
- Your medicines and approvals. Shown exactly as you or your plan reported them, with where each came from and the date.
- The official record. Your plan's own letter. If it says something different from FuzzMed, the letter is right.
